Congressman Bryan Steil, chair of the House Financial Services Subcommittee on Digital Assets, has called for cryptocurrency bills to remain free of unrelated provisions. His warning comes as lawmakers debate the inclusion of extraneous content that could slow the implementation of a clear regulatory framework for the industry.

The push for streamlined legislation follows tensions over the GENIUS Act, a stablecoin bill that faced opposition from Democratic lawmakers due to political controversies. Despite these challenges, the bill advanced through a key Senate vote, signaling progress for crypto regulation.

Steil emphasized that personal or political agendas should not derail critical policymaking. "Some lawmakers want to add unrelated content to the cryptocurrency bill based on personal demand, and such attempts should be refrained from," he stated. The new bills build on the foundation of FIT21, aiming to foster innovation while providing regulatory clarity.
